The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta under its Regional Owned Company (BUMD), PT. Jakarta Tourisindo (JAKTOUR) facilitates comfortable and suitable place to rest for the medical staff who treated COVID-19 patients. This policy was stated by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan at the City Hall of DKI Jakarta, Central Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon (3/26).

In this occasion, Governor Anies emphasized, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to provide various support for medical personnel who are at the forefront against COVID-19 outbreak in the Capital City of Jakarta. Not only the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on duty, medical personnel need quality rest after hours or during shift changes.

“The forefront in dealing with COVID-19 is the medical personnel; their work is the toughest, hardest and has the greatest risk. They have to endure exhausting tasks, and many of them cannot go home, for fear that they might be risking others. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun preparing lodging facilities for medical personnel, doctors (and) nurses; for them to stay at the Grand Cempaka Hotel owned by the DKI Provincial Government so that they can rest comfortably, restful, and all their needs are met, ” Governor Anies explained.

For the first stage, the medical staff from Pasar Minggu Hospital and Tarakan Hospital have occupied the Grand Cempaka Hotel to stay and rest starting Thursday morning (26/3). They were directly picked up using the Transjakarta Bus in stages. “This morning, we started withthe first batch of Pasar Minggu Hospital and Tarakan Hospital, there were 138 medical personnel who have stayed at the Grand Cempaka Hotel. There are 220 rooms and 414 beds available. The capacity is quite large. Besides preparing a comfortable place to rest, food is also prepared, and we received support from various parties, “said Governor Anies.

Governor Anies hopes that all parties will collaborate in providing support for medical personnel who treats COVID-19 patients, especially in Jakarta. “This will be done immediately and not only for a day or two / not a week or two, it might be longer. We hope that the steps taken can be done in collaboration with everyone involved. We are currently preparing three other locations and all are managed under JAKTOUR “Hopefully all parties can be involved in supporting the medical personnel to carry out this noble humanitarian duty,” he said.

Governor Anies also appreciated all parties who were now involved and supported the collaboration to provide various support for medical personnel in Jakarta. “I would like to specifically express my appreciation to o the Indonesian Food Service associations, also the Food Station, Susu Diamond, Bank DKI, there is also support from Dompet Dhuafa and Pasar Jaya for installing the Disinfection Chambers. So all the medical personnel shall undergone disinfection process on arrival before entering the facility. This is in order to ensure the forefront personnel to get sufficient support,” he said.

There are now 50 medical personnel in Jakarta that have been exposed to the Covid-19 outbreak. “That figure illustrates the magnitude of the risk, there were two deaths already. This happened in 24 hospitals in Jakarta. That is why the support for medical personnel is absolutely needed. For their protection we have been prepared the PPE. And for the COVID-19 test, the rapid test using the the test kits owned by the provincial government now will be prioritized for all medical personnel. “So they shall have a peace of mind and if there are initial symptoms, they can be treated immediately,” added Governor Anies.

In addition, the Director of JAKTOUR, Novita Dewi explained that the relevant medical personnel were requested to fulfil several requirements in order to be able to utilize the lodging or overnight facilities of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. “The health personnel should have a letter of introduction from the hospital and coordinated with the Department of Health (DKI Jakarta). We have several stages, the first stage today starts at the Grand Cempaka Bisnis for Tarakan Regional Hospital and Pasar Minggu Hospital. The second stage for other hospitals, (and) the third stage will be open for the other non-hospital facilities, “he explained.

“We will also conduct COVID-19 tests for hotel employees to ensure that anyone who enters the facilities are all healthy. The procedure is started from the entrance to the exit and there will be a disinfecting chamber for the medical personnel and another chamber for the public, we have installed two chambers. And as soon as they checked out everyday to go back to the hospital, we will clean their rooms and always spray everything with disinfectants, ” Novita added.

DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared 4 (four) lodging facilities owned by DKI Provincial Government as the resting facilities for Medical Personnel, and one that has been launched today (3/26) is the Grand Cempaka Bisnis Hotel, Central Jakarta. For the next stage, the medical personnel will stay at the Hotel d’Arcici Alhijra, Hotel Cempaka Putih, the D’Arcici Hotel Sunter, and the D’Arcici Hotel Plumpang.
